5 Day Komodo Trip Cost 2027: Full Price Breakdown Per Person

A 5 day Komodo trip costs $780–$1,450 per person on a shared
liveaboard
, $1,600–$3,900 per person on a private
charter (based on two travelers)
, and $950–$1,800 per
person on a liveaboard + land combo
in 2027 — including meals,
crew, snorkel gear, and standard national park fees. Add $80–$150 for
round-trip Bali–Labuan Bajo flights if you start from Bali. Those are
real operating numbers from my 2027 rate sheets, not marketing “from”
prices, and this page breaks every line of them down.

I am Jo Rangga; I have priced and run this route across 300+
departures since 2016 (who I am). The reason cost
pages elsewhere frustrate people is that operators quote a boat price
and stay silent about park fees, port charges, and tips until later.
Here is the entire stack.

The 2027 Price Table (Per
Person)

Tier Shared cabin, 5D4N liveaboard Private charter (2 pax) Land + sea combo What the tier means
Budget $780–$950 $1,600–$2,100 $950–$1,150 Fan-cooled or basic AC cabins, shared bathrooms, simple Indonesian
meals
Mid-range $980–$1,200 $2,200–$2,900 $1,200–$1,500 AC ensuite cabins, 12–16 guest boats, western + Indonesian menu
Premium $1,250–$1,450 $3,000–$3,900 $1,550–$1,800 Boutique phinisi, 6–10 guests, large cabins, chef-level galley

Private charter prices fall fast per person as the group grows: a
mid-range boat at $2,500 pp for two people is typically ~$1,250 pp for
four and ~$900 pp for six. Families and groups of friends should almost
always price the private option — the math is worked through in private or shared Komodo
boat?
.

Where the Money Actually
Goes

1. The Boat (65–75% of Total
Cost)

The boat is fuel, crew of 5–9, food for five days, and maintenance on
a wooden hull working in strong currents. This is where cheap deals cut
corners: fewer crew, older safety gear, less freshwater. My inspection
standards — and the difference between a $780 boat that is honest-basic
and one that is unsafe-basic — are documented on the why trust us page and my 2027 boat shortlist.

2.
Komodo National Park Fees (Roughly $60–$100 for the Trip)

For 2027, budget the following per person, payable in IDR, based on
the official park tariff structure (PNBP tariffs, Komodo National Park /
Ministry of Forestry — verify current figures at the official park
office in Labuan Bajo, as tariffs are set by government regulation and
adjusted periodically):

Item Typical 2027 figure (IDR) Approx USD
Park entrance, per entry day 150,000–250,000 (weekday/weekend differ) $10–$16
Trekking/guide (ranger) fee, per island visit 80,000–120,000 per group, split $2–$5 pp
Snorkeling fee 60,000–100,000 per day $4–$7
Diving fee (if applicable) 125,000–175,000 per day $8–$11
Boat/mooring & conservation charges folded into charter or ~100,000 ~$7

A typical snorkeler entering the park on three days of the route pays
IDR 900,000–1,400,000 (~$60–$95) across the trip. Some
operators bundle this; some do not. Always ask “are park fees
included, and for how many entry days?”
— it is the single most
common source of surprise cost. Every ticket type is itemized in Komodo National
Park entrance fees 2027
, and the permit-and-caps context is in park rules 2027.

3. Getting There ($80–$150 From
Bali)

Round-trip DPS–LBJ flights cost $80–$150 booked 3–6 weeks ahead in
2027, more in July–August. Timing matters as much as price — you need
the morning arrival window. Flight strategy is on the 5 day Komodo trip from Bali
page
and in Bali to

4. The Small Stack of Extras
($60–$150)

Three Real Quotes From My
2027 Sheet

How to Save Money
Without Wrecking the Trip

  1. Travel in shoulder months — April–June and
September–November pricing runs 10–20% below July–August, with better
    manta odds (best time to
    visit 2027
    ).
  2. Share a private boat with another couple — four
people on a private mid-range boat beats two people on a premium shared
    one for cost and experience.
  3. Book flights when you book the boat, not after —
    the DPS–LBJ route spikes late.
  4. Do not shave the boat budget below ~$780 pp. Below
that line in 2027, something is being skipped: crew numbers, insurance,
engine maintenance, or park fees quietly excluded. Whether the spend is
worth it at all is honestly argued in is a Komodo liveaboard
    worth it?
    .
  5. A shorter trip is not proportionally cheaper. A
3-day trip costs ~75% of a 5-day trip for ~55% of the sites, because the
fixed costs (positioning fuel, crew mobilization) are the same.

FAQ — Cost Questions,
Answered Straight

How much does a 5 day Komodo trip cost all-in from
Bali?
For most travelers in 2027: $1,000–$1,600 per person
all-in — shared mid-range boat, flights, park fees, tips. Budget
travelers can land near $1,000; premium private trips run
$2,500–$4,200.

What does “all inclusive” usually include — and
exclude?
Included on a proper boat: all meals,
water/tea/coffee, snorkel gear, cabin, crew, fuel. Commonly excluded:
park fees (ask!), alcohol, wetsuit rental, tips, and the Day-5 land
activity. I list inclusions line-by-line on every quote.

Are Komodo park fees really changing in 2027? Park
tariffs are set by government regulation and have shifted several times
since 2022 (including proposed conservation-fee schemes that were
postponed). I update the fees blog each
season from official park-office figures — treat any fixed number more
than a season old as suspect.

Is a deposit required, and is it refundable? I take
a 30% deposit to lock the boat and dates; the balance is due 30 days
out. Weather-related changes rebook without penalty under the written
terms on the why trust us page.

Can I pay in IDR, USD, or card? Bank transfer in IDR
or USD, or card payment with a gateway fee of ~3%. Park fees are always
paid in IDR.

Is 5 days worth the extra cost over 3 days? Per
highlight actually seen, 5 days is the cheaper trip. The 3-day format
cuts Manta Point or Rinca on most schedules — the exact comparison is on
the itinerary pillar.
