The Written Guarantees
Every booking carries these terms in writing, on the quote, before
any money moves:
The Route Guarantee
Your dated itinerary lists every site. If a site is lost to weather
or a park closure, it is first absorbed by the Day-3 buffer slot; if
genuinely unrecoverable, it is substituted with a named alternative
(Sebayur, Mawan, Sabolo) and noted to you with the reason. No silent
dropping — the practice most complained about on this route
generally.
The Weather Terms
- Port-authority closures (harbor master suspends
sailings): full rebooking to new dates without penalty, or transfer of
full value to a future departure valid 18 months. - Partial disruption at sea: the substitution rule
above; no cash adjustments for single-site swaps, honestly stated up
front. - December–March departures additionally carry a
written flexibility clause acknowledging wet-season variance — see the

The Payment Terms
30% deposit locks boat and dates; balance due 30 days pre-departure.
Cancellation tiers (stated on every quote): full deposit refund minus
transfer costs at 60+ days, 50% at 30–59 days, non-refundable inside 30
days except by resale of your cabin — which I actively attempt. Payments
by bank transfer (IDR/USD) or card (+~3% gateway).
The Fee Transparency Rule
Park fees are itemized per entry day on every quote, per the official
Komodo National Park tariff structure current at booking — the same
figures published and sourced in entrance fees
2027. If the government adjusts tariffs between booking and travel
(it happens), you pay the difference at cost, documented — never a
marked-up “adjustment”.
Licenses & Legal Standing
Trips operate under a licensed Indonesian local entity holding the
standard tour-operation registration (NIB/business identification and
tourism-sector licensing), working exclusively with boats carrying valid
passenger-transport and safety certification from the harbor authority.
Guide services inside the park use licensed naturalist rangers as
required by park regulation — the ranger system and 2027 park rules are
explained in Komodo

This is the checklist behind the 2027 boat shortlist. Every
boat, re-inspected each season:
Safety (pass/fail — no exceptions)
- Life rafts serviced in-date, capacity ≥ guest + crew count, tags
photographed - Lifejackets: correct count, accessible in under 60 seconds, child
sizes if family departure - Two independent radios (fixed VHF + handheld); satellite comm on
premium hulls - Fire extinguishers in galley, engine room, and per deck — in test
date - First-aid kit checked against my list; oxygen set on dive-supporting
boats - Crew can state man-overboard and fire drills unprompted
Seaworthiness
- Last haul-out date stated and plausible (≤ 18 months); bilge
condition inspected - Engine hours log kept; backup dinghy motor functional
- Anchor windlass working — this route lives and dies by

Honesty & livability
- My own cabin photos match marketing within reason
- Freshwater tank capacity ÷ guest count ≥ 5-day real-shower
threshold - Generator/AC night policy stated and told to guests before
booking - Crew ≥ 5 for any 5D4N departure; cook is a dedicated role

Standing rule: two boats were removed from the list
after the 2026 season — one for a lapsed raft certificate, one for photo
deception. Removal is permanent for honesty failures, one-season
probation for fixable hardware issues.
